GAMES OF THE MONTH | NOVEMBER 2002

Welcome to the games of the month. The multi format page consisting of games that are it for the month from across many platforms and just about any era.

Each month between 3 and 5 games will be listed with a snippet of info hopefully explaining why they are great to play. Hopefully some of you see some of the titles and relate to them as being some of your favourites also.

DUKE NUKEM 3D

Saturn Pal | 1997

The classic that is Duke Nukem 3D is ported faithfully to Sega's underrated 32-Bitter. Deep Water, the team responsible for the Mega CD version of Eternal Champions, brought the Build Engine to the Saturn and the majority of the levels from the PC original.

The Saturn version stands out from the other console versions by being completely uncensored. All of Duke’s comments, the smut filled levels and general gore are left intact for this version. Also this game was one of the first to use the Saturn Netlink.

JET SET RADIO FUTURE

X Box Pal | Sega 2002

Jet Set Radio Future was one of the very first X Box games. It's a follow on from the Dreamcast classic Jet Set Radio ( or Jet Grind Radio for the jap version) where you skate around the streets of Tokyo spraying your distinctive mark upon the city beating out rival gangs much to the displeasure of the police. Jet Set Radio Future improves on the original with more characters, more levels and more pumping soundtracks.

RED ZONE

Mega Drive Pal | Zyrinx 1995

A programming masterpiece of the 16-Bit era by a little known developer called Zyrinx.

Red Zone is a helicopter combat sim, but as much as their is action in the air there is also character based action where a member of your squad is running around some underground bunker carrying out a mission.

You have 24 Hours to defeat the plans of a dictator threatening nuclear war.

The game sports a fairly impressive graphics engine considering it's 16-Bit hardware. When the game is booted a list of features in the game is displayed. Listed amongst others include FMV and polygons.

Zyrinx also released Sub Terriania for the Mega Drive in 1996.
